BLOG POST #214: This week, I’m sharing true-crime research involving a young, married high school teacher and football coach.

He’d been with the school district six years at the time of his arrest.

The state Department of Children and Families received information that prompted interviews with alleged victims and then with the teacher.

During the investigation, with a Sheriff Dept. detective present, the teacher admitted to using social media to send nude photos of him to underage girls and asked them to have sex with him.

He also admitted to visiting the workplace of one of the underage girls he’d met online and had sex with her in a bathroom.

On the same day the Dept. of Children and Families supervisor had interviewed the teacher, Sheriff Dept. deputies arrested him off-campus.

The former teacher pleaded no contest to charges of sexual battery on a victim 16 or 17 years old and using a computer to lure a child.

After a delay, his case went to trial. The jury found the former teacher guilty of transmission of harmful material to a minor and use of a computer service to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child for pornography.

The court sentenced him to 8 years in prison and 10 years of probation. He’ll be required to register as a sex offender.

In a separate case, the former teacher accepted a plea agreement for having sex with a minor. The court added four more years to his previous sentence and two years to his probation.

The two sentences will run consecutively.
