The Most Extreme and Traumatic Way Possible

School employees are still committing crimes at their schools. Some of those crimes involve students, which is the worst school crime of all.

A sexual predator working at a school is typically a man—but not always. Typically, the employee gave off warning signs—but not always. A female elementary teacher who received a teacher-of-the year accommodation while she was sexually violating students goes against all we believe.

Her victims were two of her students, ages 11 and 12. She groomed them for a year before making her move. She may have continued if it weren’t for the 12-year-old’s mother who saw inappropriate messaging between her son and the teacher.

Her son used the family tablet making contact between student and teacher difficult. The teacher set up an unsanctioned after-school program and directed the boy to communicate with her through the school chat application.

While parents believed their child was taking part in an after-school basketball program, instead she was sexually abusing him in her classroom. This continued for three months.

To gain the boy’s trust, she gave them gifts, food, special attention and did their homework for them.

A district attorney associated with this crime said,

“This defendant violated the trust she had with her students in the most extreme and traumatic way possible.”

Before her trial began, the 36-year-old teacher pleaded guilty to forcible lewd acts on a child, and possessing child sexual abuse materials (because she recorded their time together).

A judge sentenced her to 30 years-to-life in prison for sexually abusing two young boys.
